KHSA 2022 Head Start Awards

Please review the KHSA-Region IV Brochure and Application here.

OVERVIEW

Recognition and appreciation are fundamental human needs. People want to be respected and valued for their work and accomplishments.

By honoring Head Start and Early Head Start employees, parents, alumni, volunteers and partners, we not only confirm the value of their work and the impact of their success, but also motivate them and others to reach new heights.

The Kentucky Head Start Association's awards program is a powerful vehicle for recognizing and elevating excellence, engaging the community and celebrating milestones. KHSA's state-level awards are based on, and operated in tandem with, the Region IV Head Start Association's (RIVHSA) awards/scholarships program.

OPPORTUNITIES

A total of 20 award and scholarship categories are open for nominations. These categories are also recognized and awarded by Region IV as well as five at the national level by the National Head Start Association (NHSA). Grantees and state affiliates must submit nominations as specified by each entity to be considered.

PROCESS

All 2022 applications must reflect services contributed during the current program/school year (July 2020 to June 2021). The KHSA and RIVHSA application process has distinct phases. Unlike other states and regions, the KHSA and RIVHSA application process allows recipients to compete and be recognized at all phases of the process - local, state, regional, and national! At the conclusion of each phase, the most competitive applicants continue to the next level.

The filing process is as follows:

  1. Local grantees submit to state affiliate;
  2. State affiliate selects state recipients and forwards to regional affiliate;
  3. RIVHSA selects regional recipients and forwards winners in national categories to NHSA; and
  4. NHSA selects national recipients.

SUBMISSION

Kentucky Head Start and Early Head Start Grantees must submit their nominations and applications by postal mail only to KHSA by June 15, 2021. ALL packets MUST be postmarked no later than this date; applications received after this date will not be accepted for the 2022 awards cycle.
